I was talking to my mom today and we turned around ... and Nathan was standing up! He quietly pulled himself up in his playpen and he was happily chewing on the railing.  Nate has started the beginning stages of crawling over the last few days and is very proud of all of the new 'tricks' that he has been learning.

Nate went to the park for the first time last week.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and hints of spring were in the air. Of course, he's too small to take full advantage of everything - but his immobility is my photo opp! Here are a few of my favorites:

seven months.

The days have been hectic lately, but not too much so that I forgot about his seven months! These were taken on the day of, but then I forgot to share...oh, mommy brain. Better late than never :)

Nate is so much fun these days! His personality is really starting to shine through - he is incredibly sweet but also has mischievous little eyes. He cannot crawl quite yet, but he is very close.  Right now, he rolls and scoots to whatever catches his eye.  Nate will be up and running before we know it!

more teeth.

Much to everyone's surprise, Nate cut two teeth yesterday! He showed no signs of teething prior to cutting them - no fussiness, no drooling, sleeping through the night.  I much prefer this style of teething to the other times :)

Baby boy has a total of 5 cut teeth now and after feeling around in his mouth, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets more this weekend.

six months.

Baby boy is six months old now! At his check up he got four vaccines (yikes!) and one oral medicine.  His absolute favorite part of the appointment was shredding the paper on the exam table and then trying to eat it.  The doctor said that he looks great and was impressed that he already had two teeth.  Well, he had to go and cut another one over the weekend (02/05/2011) and so that makes three!

birthday season.

Once the business of Christmas starts to calm down, we jump right into birthday season.  January is a busy month in my family, as my dad and two of my brothers have birthdays.  We celebrated each birthday with great food!  Here are a few shots of the birthday boys:

This is Nate's favorite 'trick' right now.  He is beginning the long road of word association, so this is just too cute to me:

cereal.

We took the plunge today and gave Nathan baby cereal.   He is definitely more than ready: sitting, has teeth, shows extreme interest in food.  My only concern was that giving him cereal would lead to a possible food allergy ... and I don't want that kid.  But now that he is almost six months, we decided to go ahead and see what would happen.

The verdict is that the kid LOVES food! He ate all of the cereal and then cried for more when it was all gone.  Here's a short video clip and some stills - notice: he is already grabbing my hand to guide the food to his mouth!

and the little one said, roll over.

I think it is safe to say that Nate has mastered the art of rolling over.  I grabbed my camera last night to catch him in action!

five months.

Our little man is five months old today!  What a whirlwind it has been! It seems like such a short amount of time, but I can't imagine my life without him :)

At five months, Nate:
*Has TWO teeth! The front, bottom teeth came first - one on 12/15/2010 and the other on 12/25/2010
*Can roll over from back to front and front to back
*Is a people watcher.  He intently takes in all of the activity around him.  Lock eyes with him and you're sure to get a big smile.
*Continues to be a very active but very content little guy
*Is beginning to make consonant sounds!
