picnic + winery.

I had my company picnic today at the Marriott Ranch in Hume, VA.   Chris took the day off of work so that he, Nathan, and I could go as a family.  Other than being pretty hot and sticky, it was a fun day! We did a hay wagon ride, face painting, and had some good food.

Afterwards, Chris and I stopped by Gray Ghost winery to stock up on some of our favorite wines. We did our engagement pictures at that winery a few years ago and we really enjoy going back...of course we had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and take a few shots of Nate. Enjoy!

first birthday party.

We had Nathan's first birthday party last weekend (a few days before his actual birthday) so that we could have lots of friends and family come.  We ended up having a total of 38 people come, which was great! That included all four grandparents, three great-grandparents, a great-great aunt, a bunch of uncles, one aunt, a bunch of great-uncles and great aunts, cousins, some neighbors, and some friends.

We had a great time - I really loved that so many people wanted to help us celebrate! I tried to make things special by ordering everything in a baby Mickey Mouse 1st birthday theme (Nate loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) and I even ordered a "real" cake and designed it myself! Nathan isn't old enough to understand what a birthday is - but he had fun running around amongst lots of familiar faces.
